After doing some research, I noticed that not a lot of people agree with me on same-sex marriage. I believe that people of the same sex deserve the right to love and marry whoever they please. That we live in a society where not everyone has the same point of view; same-sex marriage is not accepted everywhere. Even though same-sex marriage is legal in all fifty states, some problems are still faced today. An article stated children need both a mother and a father, which is one of the main arguments about same-sex marriage today.
Supposedly, fathers excel in reducing antisocial behavior and delinquency in boys and sexual activity in girls. For example, a recent study of father absence in girls found that girls who grew up without a father figure in their lives were a lot more likely to go through puberty early and are more at risk of teen pregnancy than girls who spent their entire childhood in an intact family. This study implies that a father's pheromones have a major influence on the development of his daughter. Marriage with a foundation provides a model for girls of what to look for in a relationship and gives them the confidence to resist sexual engagements with their boyfriends. With that being said, mothers outshine in being able to provide children with emotional support, and security, and in identifying the physical and emotional cues of newborns as well as infants. Also, with a mother figure in the household, they give daughters unique guidance as they battle the physical, emotional, and social tasks associated with adolescence, puberty, and growing up in general.
Homosexual advocates state that same-sex marriage is considered to be a civil rights issue comparable to the struggle that was faced regarding racial equality in the 1960s. People who oppose same-sex marriage view this as false. In the article, it is believed sexual behavior and race are totally different realities. A male and a female wanting to marry may be different in their characteristics. The man is black, while the woman is white. One can be rich, the other poor. One can grow up to be tall, the other stays short. None of these differences are impossible obstacles for marriage because the two individuals still remain man and woman, and thus the requirements of nature are respected.
Same-sex marriage is seen to oppose nature. Two individuals of the same sex, regardless of their race, financial stability, maturity, erudition, or fame, will never be able to marry because of an insurmountable biological impossibility. After comparing both texts, I realize that same-sex marriage still has a long way to go and I know that there is more in store for the future. same-sex marriage is still becoming more well-known and spoken about so a lot of people are going to have opinions. Over there years, a lot more statistics will develop, and same-sex marriage may or may not become more accepted.
