Being a leader means being capable of many abilities. Of course, being effective communicators, agile and motivators are just a few skills that leaders need to utilize but if they keep improving and develop their skills, they are the leaders who have a mindset to evolve in the future. That leader is a true leader whose main focus is on his group needs, listens to their colleagues, inspires, and motivates others. A leader shouldn’t consider himself a perfect person he should know that he can also make mistakes and also have weaknesses like others. Considering himself like other common people makes the leader a great one. During the preparation of this assignment asked my colleagues and family members about my leadership strengths and am going to summarize their reviews about me as a leader.
I understood my leadership qualities during this betterup coaching session. This taught me my strengths, weaknesses, and what type of abilities I am capable of being a leader. To receive feedback, I reached out to my family members, and my colleagues to know at what I am at my best.
Everyone wants to be a leader in his or her life. But our society has taken it in the wrong way, they think being a leader is just to enjoy their life. They forget what duties are imposed on a leader. Being a leader is not a simple job to do, you have to have a growing mindset, a mindset that benefits others not just you.
This helped me a lot in assessing myself, knowing what type of strengths I have and what type of leadership qualities am capable of. My top three strengths, after self-assessment, were accountability, honesty, and decision-making capabilities, which will benefit me and my career in future life. As a Web developer, I have some responsibilities for which I am accountable. To finish my work within the deadline and should be according to the client's needs. It’s difficult work to do because some websites are too complex and cannot meet the deadline. So I tell my client with full honesty that this task will take this much time by building a task management timetable. It’s the responsibility of the web developer to let know the client about the task that he/she is building at the present position. As a web developer, I have a team, so basically, I decide to whom I should assign the task and I have never regretted this due to my decision-making capability. Therefore, my decision-making capability is the third strength. All of these strengths are going to make me a Leader whose first responsibility would be to benefit others not to himself.
Well, I felt awkward reaching my colleagues and family members for feedback. However, due to coaching sessions, I felt enthusiastic to know the responses. The responses were indeed surprising, as your surrounding people can judge you better than you, so according to them I am at my best when I have a focused goal to follow. According to them, I do my work more than their expectations. I do my work with full potential it gives a real look to the work that is assigned to me.
Failures occur, but instead of seeing it as a failure I start learning from it and start searching where I went wrong. Work is satisfactory and according to the specification. These assessments made me surprised. I feel good about myself, these have led me here and they are going to lead me in the future. Honestly, without these strengths, I would’ve had a tough life. This taught me that everyone has a leader in him/ herself, it just depends on you to use the way to find them out and utilize them.
Always keep your strengths ready to be used. My strengths have totally changed my perception of being a leader. To be beneficial for others is one of my strengths and it has totally changed my behaviour towards failure. The challenges that come my way have taught me how to find your strengths and how to use them. My honesty strength makes my client have to trust me and that he isn’t wasting his/her time on me. Decision-making strength assigns tasks to each employee equally so that no employee feels that her leader is doing any favoritism. As all people have weaknesses but they do have strengths. Never underestimate yourself as you are best in one way or the other.
Well, my leadership statement has always been to benefit others. To help them in one way or the other, to motivate them that they are the best. Everyone around us can benefit one another if they just start thinking that others are like them too. My strengths of accountability, honesty, and decision-making have made me a very strong person to cope with all hurdles. This thought of benefiting others has always made me make things possible that people think are impossible.
Every person in this world who is poor can benefit by making opportunities and opportunities can only be built by best decision-making capability. As I am successful due to these strengths, has made me stronger to remain focused on my purpose to be a leader.
During the Betterup coaching session, I learned a lot about myself and discovered my strengths within me. The purpose of my being here in this field. During these sessions, I have dealt with my anxiety issues of ignoring myself in front of people. Now I am confident to ask about the flaws in me so that I can help it out and make others comfortable. Though we all live in a world full of people, we should keep them comfortable by benefiting them and helping in such situations which you think you might help them out. People should be aware of such Betterup coaching sessions to help themselves out in any challenging hurdle.
