Currently, I am a high school senior and will soon be attending Wingate University to further my education and major in Nursing. My educational goals are to have a positive mindset, take time out of the day to study and challenge myself. Some of my life goals are to have financial stability, live life to the fullest, and be responsible.
For as long as I can remember I’ve always wanted to be a Nurse. I’ve changed my mind multiple times on exactly what kind of Nurse but I have narrowed it down to helping families with newborn babies, either a Labor & Delivery nurse or an RN. I chose this major because I’ve always been interested in the medical field and babies so I want to be able to be a nurse and help sick or healthy babies and deliver them and also be there for the mother. When I visited Texas last year, I went with my cousin who is a Registered Nurse to her work and “shadowed” her as she does her daily routine of working with patients and that really opened my eyes to what the job is of being a nurse and the time it takes.
My plan to achieve having a positive mindset is when I get assignments or projects that have quick due dates I will not complain about it being “impossible” to get done in such a time limit or it being “too hard” because that can and will lead to me being stressed. Instead, I will accept it with a positive mindset by telling myself I can do it in the time frame and that by doing the assignment I will learn new things that will help me in my career in Nursing. My next goal is to take time out of my day to study. If I take just a couple hours out of my day to study after classes I will be most likely to retain the information and do better in the class, which will lead to knowing the information that I will need for my career. Another goal of mine would be to challenge me when in class, I want to challenge my brain as much as possible during my college education.
Winning this scholarship would make a huge dent in the debt my parents will be worrying about to send me to college so I can get the higher education they never got. I want to have the opportunity to attend college so I can get a higher education and learn all I can so I can get a good job after college and possibly help pay some of my college debt for my parents.
