Time is a good thing. You always have so many memories of it. But it is also a bad thing too. I don’t know what time has been left for me. What has been taken away from me? For two years when I was studying in the United States, I never went back to my home country, China. When I got back to China and got to associate with my family once more, I could witness a change in how we relate. There was an element of closeness and a desire to cherish the moments that we had. A critical part was my association with my mother. In our free time, my mother and I used to go to the amusement park. As we walked, she reminded me of the times that we spent in the same park when I was young. She could look at areas where we used to sit and explain each moment in detail. I could see the sadness in her eyes and noticed that she was getting old.

Studying was not an easy thing, especially when you study in another country. You need to struggle with so many things. The first thing you need to deal with is the relationship between you and your family. I was studying in the United States for two years and never came back to China for one time. I didn’t see my family for a long time. At every Chinese traditional festival, I can’t stay with my family and accompany them. Studying abroad was a boring but fortunate thing. It is a tough process for me. My family picks me up at the airport when I land at the airport. I give my mother, father, and sister a big hug. So many feelings in my mind when I see them. It was just like a child who has not gone back home for a long time and had so many grievances and exciting things to tell them. I almost cried when I saw them. It is the feeling that you finally find the person that you can be honest with them and you don’t need to show you're strong to them. Even I am 21 years old. But I still feel like I am still a young boy and need my family to stay with me. It is been a long time.

When I come back home, I feel so comfortable. I came back with my family and we have lunch together. After lunch, my mom and I decided to walk around. We went to the park. It was not a simple park. It was my amusement park when I was young. I remembered that I always asked my family to take me there if they were free. Suddenly, the air became dark and I could hear the lighting. The lightning sounds like so many animals running together and crushing the ground. It seems that big rain is coming. My mother and I decided to hide in the small pavilion and wait for the rain to stop. My mother started talking to me. “Remember that when you were a child, it was raining. You were so afraid of the lighting. Now you are growing up. You are not the shy and timid boy anymore”. My mother was laughing at me. But when I looked at her face, I could feel sad for her. I could feel she is getting old. Since I came to the United States, she might be missing me a lot. When I was young, I always talked with my mother and followed her. We are not like mother and son. We are more like the best friends. I can share so many things with her, even if I make a new girlfriend or broke up with my girlfriend. She will give me a hug and comfort me a lot. It is sad to know that my mother couldn’t protect me anymore.

In conclusion, I have learned several things from this moment when I stay with my mother and know that time is changing, the most important is the value of time. I appreciate more the moments that I share with my family and work hard to create memorable moments that can remain beautiful even when I get old. I also appreciate the presence of people I meet in my daily life, knowing that they play an important role in enabling the memories and experiences that I can enjoy. Lastly, I came to realize the importance of family. The warmth that I feel when I stay with family, and the priceless feeling that is immeasurable. I will always cherish the moments I spend with my family. There is no replacement for such moments. Enjoy the time when you stay with your family. Home is always your safe place. Parents are always your biggest backup.
