The Texas anti-abortion law has taken the country's attention by storm, it is an issue on many different women's minds, especially those who live in the state of Texas. The Texas abortion law was implemented on the 1st of September 2021, this law banned abortions from as early as six weeks - the first time a heartbeat can be detected during the pregnancy. It also gives any individual the right to sue doctors who perform an abortion past the six-week point. The law does not even make exceptions for rape and incest. Is this law stupid and disgusting? Yes, it is. For Gregg Abbott, the governor of Texas, the male to make this law a thing makes me sick to the stomach. It is confounding to consider that a decision of this magnitude should be ripped from women's hands; he would never know how it feels to want an abortion, or even feel what it is like to be pregnant and not want it. There are several reasons a woman might want an abortion. This includes a woman who needs abortions due to preexisting medical conditions, as well as those who are carrying fetuses that are diseased and are expected not to be born as healthy babies. Some people say abortions should only be used to save women, but others say it's the mother's choice to do what she wants with the baby. The woman should be able to do what she wants with the baby as it is her own body!
There are many medical reasons why a woman might need an abortion. If a woman goes for screening when she is pregnant and the screening comes back with a poor prognosis, the parents face an important choice of whether to abort the baby. If the mum does not abort the baby, she will be risking her own life because it could kill her. But in Texas, because of the law, they are not allowing any women for any reason to get an abortion. It is wrong to let women die because they can't make their own choices in life, they don't have the freedom people say we have.
Greg Abbott was the man who made this Texas abortion law a thing. For a male to even think about making this a law must be out of their mind. Men will never understand what it is like to carry a baby and for any reason not want it and want an abortion. If for any reason this law was a good thing, I would expect a woman to make it a thing, but she must have a good reason because it will ruin people.
Rape is the worst thing, but if a woman gets raped and gets pregnant by it, she would more than likely get an abortion because she would not want to get reminded of it every single day. This foolish law is making women's and even young adult's lives a misery. Today, it is very common to see a fifteen-year-old or sixteen-year-old having a child of their own. 3 out of 10 girls in the county become pregnant by the age of 20. Making the future of a teen parent harder because teen pregnancy causes many to drop out of school, causing them to have limited careers and in some cases no jobs.
At this time in life, lots of people would say we have free will, but getting told we can't have an abortion is not having freedom. I say it's our life, our decision, so why are women getting told in Texas what to do and what they cannot do with their bodies? To prove we have free will, this law shouldn't be a thing and we just forget about it.
You need to change this stand up for our rights and make a change. Sitting back and just letting Greg Abbott ruin these girls' lives is wrong.
