My home is a place of many things, but it all begins with hygiene and health. From the foods we eat to the cleaning the house, clean conditions are at the core of everyday life. At dinner times the food is always cooked and in the meal a lot of vegetables and other types of food with similar nutritious content are always available. In terms of variety, there is always a carbohydrate available, usually with a kind of sauce, and there is a form of protein in the meal, too. This is to ensure that everyone in the household is able to receive the essential nutrients everyday. Everyone in the family has a healthy and balanced diet, and what we eat is part of the health in the house. We also make our best efforts to make the house a pleasant and appealing environment. To contribute to this plan, everyone does a small part of cleaning the house. I may be washing the dishes after a meal, while someone else is vacuuming the living room. Everyone plays a small role for the clean environment we all would wish to live in. By visiting my home, I am certain you would understand the importance of a clean atmosphere.
By making my best effort to make the house as clean as possible, I feel I have built a good sense of responsibility. For instance, from a younger age I learnt how to make my bed. Something as simple as this has been beneficial, as I now know that it should be something I do, and not rely on anyone else to do. I often wash the dishes after dinner, and do so on my own terms. Ever since learning how to load and unload the dishwasher a few years ago, and learning how to wash dishes without a dishwasher, it has become a useful skill, as I know I can wash my own things wherever I am, or if I am at home, I can wash everyone’s things. Many things that I have learnt that involve helping out the home can translate into useful skills in everyday life. From learning all of these, I would learn responsibility and independence, and I am grateful for learning them sooner rather than later. So, if you were to pay a visit, you would gain a sense of responsibility.
At my house, we all understand that without good health, even with everything else, you cannot live well. With this in mind, as a family, we try our best to keep fit and stay healthy everyday. From playing sports to running, I exercise a lot to keep up with the healthy standards. In doing so, and by understanding the negative health implications that could occur when failing to complete regular exercise, I commit to staying healthy. I make sure to maintain a healthy lifestyle by doing various activities and sports throughout the day during school. A balanced diet is crucial on top of all the keeping fit, as without it you can lack important minerals for the body. After spending time at my home, you would surely be more self aware of the amount of exercise you get involved in.
Another other thing that is emphasised at home is hard work. Whether this is in school, or if you are participating in an extracurricular activity, hard work and perseverance are things I have learnt at home. I continue to learn from my parents that if you work hard, you will achieve what you deserve, and there will be a reward for my efforts in some form or another. If you choose not work hard, you will always know that had you had dedicated at last some hard work you could have performed better, and thus regretting. The principle of working hard is something that I understand and relate to, as without it you cannot reach where you could have been. It is something that I try to implement into all scenarios as much as I can. Hard work places well with perseverance, in my opinion, and can lead you to building up a strong and resilient character. Whether you realise it or not, we are all working in one way or another, and hard work is the ability to go beyond where you think you should stop. At my home you would definitely take away a valuable experience and atmosphere revolving around hard work.
On top of hard work, I have also learnt integrity. It is one thing to do something well in someone else’s presence, but being able to do well and stay motivated without someone being there is a valuable skill. If you constantly need someone to be looking over whatever you do in school, whether it’s your class work or behaviour, you lack a sense of integrity. By being able to independently get on with work at school, as an example, you do not need that constant checking over by a teacher. Integrity is important in most environments, as it means you can do what is needed of you without needing unnecessary supervision. Consequently, you have self-motivation, and can strive to complete something under your own free will. It is a helpful vale, and something that I have learnt at home through seeing how my parents get on with tasks and understanding why I should. By visiting my home, you are bound to understand the significance of integrity. From visiting, you would learn numerous things about me.
