What do you usually do when you have free time? I think many people will answer to watch videos. I’m a member of Amazon Prime, and most of my friends are members of Netflix. Video-sharing services have become very popular recently. We have to pay the membership fee to use these services. However, there is the biggest service that everyone can use without charging, is YouTube.
Over 10 million people are using YouTube, which means that one-third of the total internet population is using it. According to the survey that Sony Life Insurance has conducted to junior high school students about their future dreams, the job, YouTuber ranked in three. There are plenty of kids who want to be a YouTuber. Probably you don’t know, but some facilities are called “YouTube Spaces”. It is in principal cities in the world like New York, London, São Paulo, and Tokyo. It supports creators to make out standing content. Anyway, why YouTube is so popular, and do you think it affects the world? I’ll describe it below.
YouTube is the biggest video-sharing site in the world. Although there is a gap in quality between YouTube and TV, YouTube has much greater variety. Once you search, you definitely can find your favorite video. YouTube is used in several ways, for example, refreshing, wasting time, collecting information, and studying. The biggest difference is the convenience. You can watch it anytime you want. Thorough user priority is also one of the reasons for popularity. YouTube is offering local versions in more than 88 countries, and it can use it in 76 languages. The number of languages can cover 95% of internet users. Nowadays, YouTube is proceeding to subtitle videos rapidly. Many people will be able to enjoy more videos without a barrier of language. This year, YouTube abolished the 30-second commercial. Users used to have to watch all of it, so there were negative reputations from users. It has many merits for advertisers, but YouTube abolished it for users.
There are plenty of YouTubers in the world. Do you think how you can be a popular YouTuber? I would like to tell you about it. There are 4 steps to being a YouTuber. First, you need to make a Google account. Then, sign in to YouTube, and make a channel. At the same time, you have to set up your channel icon and channel art. These will be a symbol of your channel, so you should choose characteristic one for each other. You also need to define a concept of your channel. It is important to bring out your personality to have an impact on people. Next, let’s take a video and edit it. Although you can take videos on a smartphone, if you want to take professional ones, you have to collect the proper equipment. After taking a video, I recommend editing it for the viewer’s understanding. For example, camera blocking, setting up BGM, or attaching subtitles to the video. For the third step, you will upload it to YouTube. When you do it, you will be required to set up the title, explanation, and tags. These settings will be very important because they affect the view-count. Finally, you need to monetize your channel, because you can get profits by placing advertisements.
I interviewed some people about how many times they watch YouTube, and I realized that YouTube is more familiar to people than I thought. Not only children but also adults watch it often. Maybe YouTube has become a part of our lives in these years. Many internet users have watched it, and almost all of them have the habit of watching it. In my opinion, the reason for its popularity is its handiness.
YouTube became very popular in the world. However, I think it can have negative effects on people, especially children. It doesn’t have a recognizable borderline like TV, so sometimes there are no suitable videos. Some of YouTubers were arrested because of their videos. YouTube will be a good advertising way shortly, but I believe it’s important to legislate it. Furthermore, it is necessary to judge ourselves if it is good or bad. We can get many kinds of information more easily, so we should make our own choices. If we made a good choice, we could enjoy it more.
