The zeal and courage to elevate me academically are entrenched in my personal, academic, and professional experiences. Personally, I consider nursing to be a career of continuous professional development that you never stop learning and training. My aspiration to become a Nurse is derived from my work experience in geriatric care nursing, being a health care assistant (HCA) for more than 5 years. During this time of working, I was able to assist residents of diverse backgrounds and sicknesses in the care setting of my job description such as in Nursing and Residential homes, the domiciliary field, and semi-mental health units.
My continuous work in the healthcare sector to date has proven my passion for caring for the vulnerable and vulnerable people in society. The above ramification has motivated me to do a level 3 diploma in adult care which has brought me to the path of becoming a nurse. I believe a degree in nursing would certainly be a rewarding course for me to complete both in a personal and professional way. This program would certainly provide me with an array of opportunities as well as a career option. It would certainly provide me with professional independence where I can easily work with a multidisciplinary team
Working as a healthcare assistant I have developed some key skills such as interpersonal skills, critical thinking skills, communication skills, organizational and leadership skills, and above all, I am a good listener and fast learner. Furthermore, the above-listed skills make me a suitable prospective adult nursing candidate with the aspiration to perform a totally unique function of a nurse to assist people, sick or well. Regarding my academic potential, I am currently studying functional skills in English and Mathematics, Access to Higher Education, and studying Level 3 in Health and Social Care. Furthermore, the course module I chose will certainly help me to navigate the degree program in adult nursing. However, I have developed an overall understanding of basic concepts, terminologies, and principles that are mostly used in this prospective program I am about to be enrolled in which was also developed from previous training as a healthcare assistant, some of these training includes: Manual Handling, Health and Safety Awareness, Fire Safety, Safe Guarding Adult, Infection Prevention Control, Dementia Awareness, and First Aid. I have completed my access course in health and social care thus providing me with a good understanding of the role nurses play and their job description in the health care setting. Furthermore, the course module I chose will certainly help me to navigate the degree program in adult nursing. However, I have developed an overall understanding of basic concepts, terminologies, and principles which are mostly used in this prospective program I am about to enroll in.
I have equally learned a wide range of academic and basic clinical techniques used for determining different solutions for a certain problem from my current job and the course I undertook. Apart from the discreet prerequisites, I hold other attributes that make me an individual who is ready to take the academic challenge. I am a serious, objective, and self-disciplined person, who makes a distinction between inconsequential and paramount issues. Positioning myself as someone with a wealth of experience, I am capable of working in a team using an interdisciplinary approach, whereby I go with the flow by adjusting and adapting not only to new environments but also to mingle and adjust in a diverse workforce. I am compassionate, kind, and caring, and have effective listening and communication skills. With these qualities of mine, I believe I will be a suitable candidate for the adult nursing degree which will be very useful in pursuing my career in Nursing.
