Education is given extreme impetus in my family. Coming from a poor family, with a passion for studying and to achieve something reputable, my father worked hard to fund his own education apart from supporting his family and went on to become regional manager of a reputed life insurance corporation. His aim was to make a difference and protect as many families as he could through formidable life insurance protection. I emulate his character and passion. I envision to identify solutions to fundamental problems faced by us.
I was born to be in the age of computers and soon began to understand the importance of digital communication and information and its use. However, in order to understand how computers function, I had to first comprehend basics of electronics, communication and control system. Therefore, I selected ‘Instrumentation Technology’ at a reputed college in Bangalore, Dr. Ambedkar Institute of Technology (AIT) as a field of study in under graduation. The subjects in this course such as Digital Signal Processing, Microcontrollers and Processors, C, C++, Control Systems, Signal Systems including others emboldened me to become a software engineer professional.
As a software engineer in Cognizant Technology Solutions (CTS), I have mastered programming languages and tools of Microsoft technology such as ASP.Net, MVC, Microsoft SQL, jQuery, JavaScript, AngularJS and others. In my 5.3 years of professional career (Dec 2010 to Mar 2016), I worked as an individual contributor and as a module lead to lead a team of 3 developers. Some of my roles included designing and developing web applications, working on databases such as MSQL and SharePoint, testing and fixing issues, handling deployment and releases of the project, involving in effort and estimation of project. Working for a multinational company gave me an opportunity to acquire functional knowledge in banking and financial services. Along with that, my interaction with client and end customers gave me a perspective to develop a solution that not only addresses their problem statement but also a solution that connects to the user addressing their fundamental requirements and by way of ease of use.
Apart from having academic proficiency, I have also participated in various extra-curricular activities such as organizing college cultural fests, social service events, sports competition, brown bag sessions and team building activities. As a passionate carrom player, I stood first in carrom competition both in college and workplace. I was a blood bank champion at Cognizant organizing blood donation camps, maintaining list of voluntaries and coordinating with external organizations to respond when someone in need.
Through years of my professional career, I began to realize the vastness of structured and unstructured data that was growing around us. Having seen the surge of computer applications, increasing human dependence on computers and the cosmic data that is generated; it brought out my inadequacy to completely understand and identify the intelligence beneath this data; it was time to pursue my higher studies in big data and data analytics.
As a mother of 20-month-old daughter, my hunger for pursuing higher education never receded, rather has given a new purpose to make this world a better place for my daughter and to the world through my accomplishments and giving back to the society.
Study with the best to be the best; having completed the Master of Science in Information Systems (MSIS) curriculum in Big Data Management and Analytics and having top rated faculty, I am taking the opportunity to apply in your esteemed university which houses eminent faculty with 4 members having LEO awards, excellent research facilities, the courses offered are very much likely to produce excellent results to the field of my interest. Exposure to diverse influences such as confluence of people from varied culture, nationality, religion, race and ideology would result in the overall development of my personality and help me broaden my concept from the narrower confines of nationalism to internationalism, extend the boundaries of my imagination and prepare me to be a leader of change.
In addition, I will be extremely thankful if offered a beneficial association in way of financial assistance from your university. This will give me a tremendous optimism in this long pursuit to achieve excellence.
