I am Jaica R. Nacion, who finds the complexity of life. Through my 19 years of existence, I can say that my life is full of drama. I experience discouragements, disappointments, achievements, happiness, stress, and loneliness. Amidst struggles, I remain to be strong and courageous because I know God takes control of everything as I said above. I also call myself Moana from a Disney movie, I am brave enough to face my fears and ready to fight back against all the battles that are in my way. I prefer to be alone than to be surrounded by many people and prefer to be at home than to go outside together with friends.
Currently, I am a first-year college student who took up civil engineering course at Misamis University- College of Engineering and Technology. One of the top universities here in Region 9, composed of adept and competent professors who are willing to be a big part of turning the dreams of aspirant engineers into reality. I am grateful to be part of this institution, for I know that they will mold me holistically. Misamis University is composed of its building block which is its core values namely: honesty, integrity, loyalty, and excellence that mirrors the mission and vision of the said university. Misamis University aims to implant these values in its students for their own sake.
The application of these values is vital for me to be successful in a course that I enrolled in. The first is honesty, Thomas Jefferson once said that' Honesty is the first chapter in the book of wisdom'. It leads to a fulfilling life. It is not only telling a truth but it introduces who you are. With this, we are clear with our perceptions and ability to know our flaws and weaknesses. Being honest tells that you are trustworthy even in small things. Second, integrity, means you are confident and honest in your morals and values. In life, having integrity can gain the trust of the people who surround you. Third, loyalty, express dedication, and commitment. Being loyal, is valuable, for a reason that you don't want to break the trust of the person who put you first. Committing ourselves to something shows how we prioritize and are determined to make it work. Lastly, excellence. It means you are doing your best in any. Excellence reflects moral virtue. Thus, being excellent means not only being good in the academic aspect but also being principled.
Possessing all these values makes me a better individual and a great contribution to society. Honestly, I practice these values in my daily life. As a student, I do all my assignments with all my effort without copying others' work even if I am not good at it. I exerted effort and spent too much time, accomplishing my task. I am clear with all my priorities like I do first all my homework and responsibilities than being enticed in social media. I am determined to learn and willing to eliminate all the distractions like scrolling nonsense posts on any social media platforms and wasting my time Watching K-dramas or anime which I used to do when I was in senior high grade. For, I know that I should focus on my studies because I am not good at Mathematics and Science which are important in the course that I enrolled in. Shortly, I hardly strive to do my responsibilities with honesty, integrity, loyalty, and excellence which will help in pass this course successfully.s
These values embodied the Vision and Mission of Misamis University. Equipping it molds me holistically. It develops my spiritual manner who be God-fearing, principled, socially responsible, service-oriented, environmentally concerned, and competent to meet global challenges. Surely, it helps me to become successful with inner satisfaction. As quoted by Bruce Lee, 'KNOWLEDGE will give you POWER, but CHARACTER RESPECTS!' and that's Misamis University's goal.
